I'm not sure if this is the same story as Mr Scout was talking about but I looked at one that had come over from Russia a few years ago. The story I got was that a pilot for Aeroflot was owed a bunch of money so he took it in airplanes. I thought he took ten but I can't remember for sure. Anyway, they flew them over to Oregon or Washington and he started selling them.
The guy that told me this story and another guy, both from Utah, bought two of them. They fabricated a fifth wheel hitch and mounted it on the tail wheels. Then hauled them down behind a pickup. He said "you should have seen the looks we got hauling them down the freeway".
One (blue one) ended up in Nephi, then it was in Spanish Fork right where you drove into the airport. Don't know where that one is now but I do know a guy who is partners on it. The guy that told me the story lives in Bountiful and was selling his (red one) for $18,000. I thought he said it had a 21 Gal/hr burn but I could be wrong. I hear you can buy new Chinese engines for around $8,000 for them but the problem is that they are only Experimentals here. I was wondering the other day if the red one was still up there?
Anyway they are huge and awesome planes! I wanted to buy one and take an old motorhome, gut it and build a flying camper. Maybe someday. I used to have a picture of an Airfield in Ukraine that had AN2's lined up down both sides of the runway just sitting there rotting. The grass around the planes and on the runway was about 4 feet high. Really Sad.
Here is some pics of the Blue one when it was in Spanish Fork (U77):
