Re: An Old Bush Pilot

Yeah..the good old days. Just love the video and song.

However the real romance is missing...
Pumping the floats on an icy early morning and slipping off (experience level immaterial)
Drunk pax sitting on the cargo behind your seat throwing up down your neck
Dog in the back pissing on the groceries
Washing/scraping caribou/moose blood off the floor
Washing the fish juice off the floor
Removing floor boards to wash the above with frozen fingers
Sleeping with the battery
Coping with 5 hours of daylight to do 10 hours of work
Oil dilution
Having to wait for hours for the lost rock hounds (geologists)
Trying to collect cash after the flight
Finding The Sun True Bearing
Fuel cache showing snow machine tracks...and fuel gone
Snow machines racing you (and cutting you off) on ice take off
19 hour summer duty days (no regs back then)
Using a piece of garden hose to vacuum the bugs off the windshield via the side window
and my favorite...unloading fuel drums off the floats.

Thank ForeFlight on Ipad and Garmin for progress, the old guys will understand...
Warm feet and coffee with cookies delivered to the flight deck by a pretty girl?
That's life...
Cheers.
