Actually being restored by a close friend of mine in northwest Washington State. I have had the honor of seeing it up close in the hangar though. I hope to also have the honor of riding in it when it becomes airworthy - worth an airline ticket down there!

I'm jealous, I could only afford a 140 for a project.

I had a chance to fly a Warner powered Fairchild and I fell in Love.
Roll down windows and a big Chrome stick. I looked for about a year for a
Fairchild 24 with the Serv-Aero STC for the 220 Continental. Couldn't find anything decent. Talking to people that have flown them they said the flew great AND you could find engine parts.

So you're a friend of Tom's eh? That fairchild is coming along nicely. I stopped by there a couple weeks ago when he was running the engine-- sounded real smooth. Are you the guy who bought Jim Stewart's 170 a little while back?

I was kinda sorry to see Jim sell it... between him and his son, I used to see that thing out & about a fair amount. Glad someone bought it who's gonna have fun with it!

Re: Another great taildragger

I suppose the Meyers OTW is a great taildragger, but have not flown one. My dad, Frank, flew this one in 1957 out of Firebaugh, California. The registration number is on a Cessna 172 now and I don't have any other details on this bird. I found this photo a couple days after seeing "The Misfits" on TCM, where an OTW is used to round up some wild horses at... Misfits Flat east of Dayton Nevada.
