Another reason for MVP50

Ring terminal fatigued and snapped in flight today... No real biggie, but the MVP50 caught it immediately. I love that thing.

Another reason for MVP50

What was the ring terminal attached to and what information did the MVP50 give you? Looks like a P lead on a mag but It's hard to tell what it is in the picture.

Looks like you need to devote a little time and energy to rewiring a few things up front. I agree that there's no substitute for engine analyzers. My feelings precisely.

Looks like the magneto P lead (without this, the engine can start with the magneto in the off position). This grounds the system (preventing spark ignition) and when you turn on the magneto switch, you open this circuit. A mag check would indicate a real smooth running magneto (no drop) rather than an indication of a real safety concern so the engine analyzer picked it up as a fault.

You can also do a quick P-Lead check at shutdown: Quickly switch both mag switches off, then back on. If the engine stumbles a bit, all is well in P-Lead land. If not.....you've got a hot mag.

This is an excellent check prior to every shutdown.
