The plane went down in a residential area hitting two houses and no fatalities.

The pilot is a member of our flying club who was flying his personal 210. I looked at the metar history as soon as it happened. It looks like just prior to the time of the accident, the weather was reported 1/2 vis and 400 OVC. Within 20 minutes it went to 1/4 vis and 200 OVC. I think it will be interesting to hear the discussion between him and the tower and what was being reported.

Meanwhile, glad no one was killed and my thoughts and prayers to all those involved. Hate to see the bad PR GA is getting over it. It is somewhat ironic that his instrument instructor was the one who crashed the Arrow into the house two doors down in 2005.

Not to make lite of the situation, but I can clearly see how that neighborhood is going to be a bit jittery about airplanes flying overhead.

Ya I would be too just the same if I lived at the end of a freeway off ramp or next to a high speed curve.

C'mon, The airport has been here since this was all landfill and farms. Build a house 400 ft from the TDZ and then act surprised when there's a plane in your yard?... More than a little short sighted... In Utah we have to sign a disclosure form stating that we are aware of the proximity of an airport when we buy or build a house near one. Its always funny to me that airports and gentlemans clubs get the boot when people build a neighborhood near them for the cheap land. I guess no one wants to be seen in a picket line protesting the closure of Pinky's Titty Palace
