Keep the shiney side up and the dirty side down...

Re: Antique bush plane up for auction

I think forward visibility was an after thought on this plane. #-o
I can hear the test pilot telling the engineer,"Just but a big engine on it it will be fine". [-X

Well at least the lights are pointed to the outside where you can see what they are shining on or at?

I love those corrugated skins. That's a nice looking old plane.

"Pioneer Alaska aviator Carl Ben Eielson was flying a Metalplane when he died in a crash in Siberia in 1929."

Probably didn't see the moutain range in front of him!

Landing light is most likely pointing to the side cause it looks like its the only window you can see out of if you were the pilot. That plane is very cool

Re: Antique bush plane up for auction

If you click on the auction link in the article there is an interior picture looking out the front. It actually doesn't look as bad from this view. Sure the cylinders block some of the view but not as much as it seems from the other photos.
For anyone that has never attended the Barret-Jackson Auction it is mind boggling at the amount of antique and collector cars that are in this auction. It is worth it to go just to see vehicles that are mostly in private collections and museums. I had a Lotus I restored put through the auction block there about 10 years ago. The auction has gotten much bigger since then. This auction is a "don't miss" for any car buff.

I did. Looking at the interior, can you imagine how loud it must be in there?
