Any private Strips around Prescott, AZ

I am thinking of flying to AZ the first week of May. My son is graduating from Embry-Riddle with a degree in Aerospace engineering and will also be getting commisioned in the Air Force. He will then be headed off to Undergratuate Pilot Training. Needless to say I am a very proud father. He is wanting me to fly my Champ down there and spend some time flying around the area. I am looking for anyone that has a private strip or farm around the area that I could possibly land, camp, and keep the plane there while I am there.
I realize there is a public airport at Prescott but I am non-electric and prefer to stay away from the busy airspace. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
WW

AZ57 I don't know anything about this place other than it's north of Prescott and an airpark about 15 miles.

Also there is a glider winch launch operation just a few miles east of Prescott all dirt I've never flown there but have a friend that has. Maybe have your son scout this place out for you. Prescott Soaring http://thrift.tripod.com/soaring/psa2.html

And congratulation on your sons anticipated graduation from ER and his commission into the USAF

Can't help on the Arizona strip but I'd like to pass along congratulations to father and son! Very exciting! I have a daughter that has two more months in the T-6 II at Columbus MS before she heads into the next track. She and I flew the Arrow to AK in her time between USAFA and UPT. You'll have an especially wonderful time flying with him there. Where will his UPT be?

Congrats to your son!

This dirt strip is about 10 miles NW of the Prescott airport.

There used to be a little dirt strip a litte west of there called Skull Valley. It would fit your needs.
There was also a couple airparks a little N. of Prescott.Your son could probly look into those for ya.

On your way down, there is a great old hotel/restaurant in Winslow, La Pasada, I think, but I would call first for transportation. It is a couple miles from the airport.

Other things to checkout while you are in the area are Valle(Planes ofFame), a little N. of Williams AZ. Sedona realpretty flyin, No restarant on the field now. Payson, and they have a good restaurant and camping on the field. Red Cr, a litle backcountry strip on the Verde River, a little S of Payson. Gray Mtn N. of Flagstaff, Marble Canyon just down river from Lake Powell.

Lotsa good flyin around there

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

The Wayside Cafe at Alamo Lake is another good local stop. Call first for summer hours.

Thanks everyone for the replies and congratulation comments. Yes, I am beaming with pride having grown up myself as a dirt poor farmboy pulling tits (milking cows for you city folks). ;) I will forward this thread to my son so he can check out the different areas for me.
Mark, we have spoken before and congrats goes back to you and your daughter...it is a wonderful feeling isn't it! My son Zachary will be headed to Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, Texas.
On a side note I was at a gunshow in Richmond, VA yesterday and just happened to bump into a guy that lives down in that area (Del Rio). Being an avid hunter, as was this gentleman, I may have to get down that way for a visit and do some hunting! He has a 1000 acre lease with lots of hogs on it. Amazing that people you meet from all over the country with similar interests.
Thanks again everyone!!
