Keep the shiney side up and the dirty side down...
well just consider the source.. I'm not a quiet birdman but I've been invited to join and I know most of the guys in our chapter here. Once a month they meet at a restaurant, have a few beers or whatever and all have dinner together. I've never heard they had strippers or I would have joined

. THey were a pretty wild bunch aT JC one year.. and I guess like any group there are those that aren't as likeable as others...

I can check on the nearest hangar for u and find out the keyman contact for u........new blood is good
bmurrish wrote:Oh wait a minute. I want to know how one goes about finding out if there is a hangar in their area and doing whatever it takes to become a member. I know it is invite only. It seems like a long standing tradition that needs new members so it doesn't fade away.

Nothin', they'd like new blood to join as it now costs a couple grand for the strippers and all these old farts do is whine about it. Other than that the local chapter does exactly zip all year long. I'm sure the QB's don't intend for the chapters to be so lame but they are here.

No loss to them that you're not interested. WHen you start referring to other pilots as "Old Farts" and not in a friendly way, i might add, you show your true colors. You;'ll be an"old Fart" soon enough and hopefully , for your own sake, you won't have pissed off so many people that you still have a few friends when you get there..

Iceman, you're acting like and old fart. It's a virtue to be more silent, more deadly.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
You trying to shut me up????????Remember I'm an Asshole!!!! We don't shut up easily!!!! I may be an old Fart but only my friends call me one!!! and they're usually smiling when they do. He prejudged an entire organization based on an incident. Tells me a little more about B man...There's some fine people in QB and some good chapters. Maybe they do more at his chapter than he knows about. How could he know anyway since he prejudged the group on their Christmas party....

He is not a member ,
for obvious reasons, Iceman so what does he know what goes on at meetings. That's why they call it " Quiet Birdman" What happens at a meeting stays at a meeting. He has already violated the basic rule talking about what he thinks may or may not be taking place. He will never be a member and I doubt he was ever invited.......lets drop the issue with him and move on.....

Oh please. I know all these guys from around the airport. Most of us are friends, we go flying together all the time. The QB's don't do anything that any other bunch of guys do sitting around the bar BS'ing. For some reason some of the local chapters have this "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas routine", although the one here doesn't. What ever floats your boat.

Why doesn't someone start a Noisy Birdmen chapter? Then they could all crow about their flying exploits. They could talk about the price of strippers and landing in the boonies and.... oh wait. We've already got that.

I didn't hear about the Quiet Birdmen until about 2 years ago when one of the old farts (yes, I used old farts, because most of them are) kind of mentioned it in passing. He then proceeded to tell me that pretty much every older guy at the airport was a member, even my instructor. From what I gathered their hangar is just a group of older pilots who meet for dinner once a month to BS. They bring their wives along, so I don't think they are big on the strippers. You do not ask to join, you are asked to join. Sounds like a neat little get together. They are real big on the quiet part, as I have never heard anything about it from anyone ever again.

It takes a big man to cry. But it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
