Any Traveling IAs in South Central Alaska?

Hi all,

My 170B's annual is about due and I would be interested in finding an IA that is willing to travel to Trapper Creek, AK to do the inspection. I am an A&P and will be performing a 100hr inspection and service myself but would like to find an IA to come behind me and do the annual inspection. I have done two extensive annuals since I purchased the airplane with lots of new parts and repairs. The paperwork is in very good shape and I don't anticipate any big issues.

I have been contimplating getting my IA as I have two other Cessna projects that I am going to be working on but at the same time I know from experience it is sometimes beneficial to have a second pair of eyes looking at one's work. It would be great to form a long time relationship with a good IA that wouldn't mind going on the road or air.

I am able to fly to a shop, and I have one lined up, but having the IA come to me would be even better. It is possible to land at my airport but it is still melting out right now with only about 300' available right now but much more as the snow and ice move along. 8AK5 Fort Crosby can be found on the sectional about 15 air miles northwest of Talkeetna.

Thanks,
Randy

I do that sort of thing fairly often. I fly out of PABV so I’m not sure it would be economical for you to pay my fuel and time to fly up there in the 180...
Talkeetna is so close and there must be tons of IAs running around in the summer?

It looks like a really cool strip. Did you build it?
Looks like you need to take some more trees down tho :)

Lol, yea looks like a few trees need to go! That photo must be from around 2011, a lot has happened since then. 8)

There could very well be a few IAs in Talkeetna, I just don't know them and the one I talked to a couple of years ago didn't seem to interested even if I brought my airplane to him. I have been going to Willow which is about an hour drive and I had all my fuel and tie down straps stolen last year while waiting to get into the shop. Also not finding a shop that is interested in doing an owner assisted annual but I understand some guys don't like going that route.

Paying for you or anybody else to fly or drive out here is totally expected and I'm not trying to get the cheapest annual possible but mainly wanting to do all the servicing and opening up the plane myself and inspection only by the IA. Really trying to find an IA that I can rely on and work well with for the long haul.
