Anyone in on the Steve Fossett search ????

Just wondering if there are folks here working on the search? I think Gumpair is/has....any further updates, ground searches, I also see that they have a "remote viewing" consultant connection (i.e. ?psychic locator?)....etc??

I'm interested as I'm a 30 yr SAR guy, AK, Montana, Maine......I know that the media reports are just that....like to hear what's really going on....thanks....

Now they are using volunteers and it is not getting much press. They have found 8 other wrecks one dating back to 1964 that were un-charted or just not found on previous searches.

Were there bodies on these other planes? Have their families been notified? I would think that someone out there might appreciate knowing what happened to these planes.

Guilty! It's an experimental I built. It meets the LSA requirements.

If you're interested in joining the search you can go to fossett's web site. Sounds like they're just looking for turbing whirleybirds and experienced spotters. They're also saying to bring a tent and sleeping bag...I guess the ranch is full.

Here is the latest;

Searchers looking for missing aviator Steve Fossett received a telephone tip from a former Nevada Civil Air Patrol member whose friend reported to him that he saw a blue and white aircraft making a steep diving turn into a canyon and not climbing back out.

A Blackhawk is on its way to Sunrise Pass, 20 miles east of Minden, following the lead. Washoe County authorities also are sending ground patrols to search the area.

Was up horse back rideing up by Obsidian Camp ground not to far from Bridgeport, saw a blue and white Cessna 205 or maybe a 206 with the CAP letters. He came back 3 days in a row,Mon,Tues and today.We saw him for at least 3 hrs. on Tues flying up and down Burt Canyon,Long Valley,Hanging Valley, Buckeye and Rickey Peak area. A friend that runs cattle up in them canyons said he saw a helo flying real low also going up and down the canyons. I seen a C-130 make 3 passes through the canyons but not for sure if it was part of the search, he was pretty low.
