I'm stuck in the Atlanta area for the next week due to work and was wondering if anyone here is local and might want to sit around and hangar talk or maybe even go flying this weekend?

It's never ocured to me to seek out like minded aviators while out of town in the past but I've seen a few of these threads here now and figured I'd give it a try.

I'm in and out..... but right now I'm out. If I get over there in the next few days I'll let you know.

Worth the trip to drive down to Peachstate Aerodrome for lunch and a visit if you get the chance. Very good food, museum, and nice folks.

What part of town are you staying in? Schedule? How long will you be there?

I'm working this weekend but have some time off next week beginning Tuesday... might have a chance to get over to visit my airplane .. .my 170 is hangared at KOPN (Thomaston) south of Atlanta.

I'm in Duluth, GA. I fly out early Wed AM, and am quite flexible outside standard business hours. Have rent-a-car, and certainly would put some gas in your 170. I'm not too familiar with the area but I will google peachtree.

Make sure you google "peachstate" not peachtree... common wisdom says there are over 70 streets in or around Atlanta named Peachtree.

Peachstate Aerodrome is what you want... it's on the other side of town from Duluth but I would say it's worth the drive if you have a weekend day to kill and don't find something to do on the north side.

map Williamson, GA ..... it's about a mile west of there.

I live in downtown Atlanta but unfortunately I'm also pretty booked up this weekend (and I'm only a fairly low-hour student without my own plane so I probably wouldn't be the most exciting host, haha).

I will second the suggestion for a trip down to GA2 (Peach State Aerodrome) if you get the chance though, very neat place to check out and the restaurant is also good. Depending on the route you take, you'll most likely pass 4A7 in Hampton (where I train, not an incredibly active airport but there are some good folks and the occasional cool plane around) and a neat little grass strip/fly-in community called Mallard's Landing (GA04) in Locust Grove, both could make for good spots to drive through if you find yourself with a bit of time.
