Re: Anyone using APRS for aircraft tracking?

Hi, I'm new in this group.

I've developed an APRS tracker and now using it, the device will send out the beacons in VHF/UHF as well as Wifi connected to mobile. That means even though the i-gate cannot pick up the beacon, Wifi and cell phone network will do it.

As I know more than 80 pilots are using it in Asia, comments are quite good as the cost is very low.

On the other hand, InReach is very good too, only the subscription fee is a matter. I've tested after landed in somewhere that covered with lots of trees, the signal is very weak or even not work. But it is good.

How does a UHF beacon work with APRS? I thought it was a VHF frequency.

All depends on the radio and i-gate. Although I never use UHF, some country/area is using UHF.
