That's an impressive trip.
It reminds me of the Aussie that built an RV-4, put in a ferry tank, then flew it around the world three times, once east, once west, and once over the poles. He ran into unexpected headwinds over the south pole, turned back and landed at McMurdo where the NSF wouldn't give him any fuel to continue. He was eventually able to get fuel from another aviator who had cached some there and ended up not needing it. The NSF pricks were so unhelpful they wouldn't even give him a weather report.
