Astrotech Chronometer battery change??
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
I have a Astrotech panel mounted Chronometer and while at the hanger today I noticed the display was blank and I'm guessing the battery died. I have read it takes a AAA battery but I'm not sure how to change it. I have a history of screwing up some pretty simple stuff because I tried to do something without asking first. Do I remove the 4 screws from front of the display to access the battery or do I have to change it by reaching up under tha panel somewhere? Thanks in advance.

The four screws just hold the Astrotech in the panel. On the back there is a single screw in the middle of the metal cover. Remove that screw and the battery just clips in the bracket inside. If the internal light is hooked up on the back, it just pops out with a little side load just like a wilkie button. If the light is not hooked up there will just be an empty hole.
Easy to do. (At least that's how mine was.)
