Attaching new McFarlane trim chain

Skywagoners, does anybody have experience replace the forward elevator trim chain? I have new McFarlane cables and chains. The back chain came with clip style master links on each end, easy. The front one has only open link holes and new steel pins that go through those holes and through the cable ends, not so easy. Supervising A&P and I can't find a procedure for setting this pin into the link. I'm sure it could be peened but am really looking for an official, Cessna or McFarlane sanctioned method. Anybody have experience with this before I am forced to call Kenmoore and beg for help?
Thanks
Chris

McFarlane has a tech support guy.
I forget his name - my notes are at the hangar, but I talked to him a few months ago about another matter. Maybe try giving them a call and ask for tech support.

I'd say duplicate what's there now. Does the existing connection incorporate peened pins?

Re: Attaching new McFarlane trim chain

Got an email in to Ben at McFarlane so we will see what he says. The existing chain pins looks exactly like all of the other pins, hence our confusion. I assume there must be some tool or fixture for mooshing out the ends so they look like the others and won't come out but we can't find a procedure or tool for doing that. It wasn't flying soon anyway so we will just keep sorting it out.
Thanks for the replies.

Would a simple bicycle chain tool work for setting the pin? Just an idea... they're cheap... Less than $10.

Re: Attaching new McFarlane trim chain

So, Ben from McFarlane says that they sell a separate master link. Ordered two of those. He said those links come when you order the whole set. I didn't order it as a set because my parts book doesn't delineate it that way. Ah well, crisis averted.
I was going to take the two cables and the chain and go to the bicycle shop next, thanks for that idea.
Thanks for the replies. That one seriously had me up in the middle of he might trying to figure it out.
