Avcon STC Engine & prop

Who owns the Avcon STC now? Are the William's still the owner? Or their estate if they've died? I've tried for literally decades to get ahold of them and have had no luck, no matter what number I've found that's supposed to be for them, address, or whatever.

Re: Avcon STC Engine & prop

I was told that the owners of those STCs turned them in to the FAA, so they are no longer available. I have no idea if that is true, however. You might call your Flight Standards Office and ask them. If you do, how about letting us know.

Re: Avcon STC Engine & prop

As recently as last year they were still issuing the STC, it takes a certified letter to get a response out of them.

Hmmm... I'll try the certified letter approach. Thanks for the suggestion... and the glimmer of possibility :)

Re: Avcon STC Engine & prop

I spoke with someone a month or so ago who had recently managed to move a Bush STC form a wrecked 170 to another. He said the only contact method that worked was by email, and said that he would send me the email. I have not received it.

What is it you're hoping to accomplish?
They're other 360 conversions around- DelAir, Stoots, maybe some others.
Or do you need paperwork, drawings, or a re-issued document with a different tail number on it?
Someone here might be able to help out if you'd explain your needs.

Re: Avcon STC Engine & prop

A friend of mine recently moved an Avcon stc for a 180hp lycoming on a Cessna 175 from one airframe to another. They only charged him 200 bucks, if I remember correctly. I'll find out how he contacted them.

Re: Avcon STC Engine & prop

I just got off the phone with my buddy who swapped the stc from one airframe to another. He sent a certified letter, then they got back to him by email, then eventually they spoke to each other on the phone. The whole process took 6 months and he said the price was 275 dollars. this all took place almost 3 years ago.

Re: Avcon STC Engine & prop

I had a T-41B (on a C175 Type Certificate) with an avcon, and didn't have paperwork. Ended up finding a guy that had it. You looking for something?
