Avgas in boat motors
Information and discussion about seaplanes, float planes, and water operations.
I assume some of you float guys have some back lake boats you fly to. I'm wondering if anyone is running avgas in their two or four stroke motors? I've heard mixed reports of whether or not the motors will run on them. I have a camp up north and would prefer to run avgas due to the stability properties of it. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thx.

For what it's worth, my experience is if it has a carburetor, use avgas, if it in injected, use avgas. never use the alcohol stuff in a carburetor!
Never let it set over winter with the gas in it with out using something to stabilize it!
It's is better to use the stabilizer and leave it close to full rather than leave it empty>

Have as much Fun as is Safe, and Keep SMILIN! GT,
Runs fine. Will foul plugs with lead over time. Exhaust isn't as stinky as auto fuel either.

I've run outboards on avgas for many hours with no problems. Our lake boats in Kodiak got nothing but avgas, year after year and never a problem.
