Re: Aviat Aircraft unveils new 2018 enhancements for Husky

I really like Aviat, the company, for putting up with me using their auto (as in radio controlled to operate) gate so I can taxi much closer to the cafe I've been going to for the last 35 years+ now. Since the runway was rebuilt 15 years or so ago, closing me off from my old time parking spot (behind the Red Baron drive in, it's old owner was a pilot, with that name, no surprise) I would be forced to park in the general parking area, making it a very long walk and inconvinent walk. Sure they have a loaner car there, and Mark at the FBO is great, but it seems silly to use it when I can taxi a bit further and walk there in minutes, once I get through the auto gate. I really appreciate the fact Aviat didn't get pissy about this, I once explained to someone there I was used to doing so for decades, and sort of infered some kind of grandfather right to continue doing so, and they seemed to buy it. In my defense, this is almost always on a Sunday, and they are closed anyway. Point being, they are good people. Nice airplane too!

Re: Aviat Aircraft unveils new 2018 enhancements for Husky

Mike Vivion (MTV here) wrote an excellent article on the Husky for Water Flying Magazine, July/August 2000 issue. Try to find a copy and read it. The article is a bit old and was written before the new wing and MT props were available but you will get the idea, VERY informative. This article was what got me to take a long hard look at the Husky, at the time I was a Super Cub guy.

Also as a bonus there is a good article on safe fueling from cans and static electricity in the same issue.

I do like the Husky airplane. My only gripe is that there is very little room between the firewall and back of the engine. Sure would be nice to have a swinging engine mount similar to a supercub for doing work on the back side of the engine.
But i do lik the rest of the plane. Just put a powerflow exhaust on one, will be fun to see it perform.

I agree, I wish it had more room too. I have the Power Flow, nice system, great cabin and carb heat with it, performs a bit better too.
