Avionics Help Needed!

Hey everybody,

An exploratory probe to trouble shoot some static on my #1 com has turned into a possible panel upgrade out of necessity.

Does anyone know of anyone that will service a GNC 250? It's my primary radio and it's having some issues that have rendered it unusable. Garmin no longer supports it.

Thanks,
Cory

Give Steve Vold at Aerotronics in Billings a call. If it can be fixed, I'd bet that Steve will know.

Thanks for the referral! I just got off the phone with him and he is going to do some calling around to see what he can find out. Sounded like a really nice guy.

Todd Friend at Teton Aviation in Driggs is good. They keep all the warbird radios going and they are a Garmin dealer.

Thanks. I'll give them a call as well. I heard back from Steve and he was told the same from Garmin as the first shop I talked to: it's all proprietary Garmin stuff and no one has the parts or know how to work on them but Garmin. And Garmin no longer services it. Starting too look like it is a boat anchor. :(

Everything Garmin is a boat anchor the moment it is produced. Never seen a company "end of life" products as early as they do.

Re: Avionics Help Needed!

I've got a follow up question: Anyone know what heads are compatible with the SL30? I've seen the GI-106A, MD200-306, KI-206, and the KNI-520 listed as compatible, but I need to verify it before I buy one. Especially the KNI-520.
