Backcountry buddies and hangar space in San Diego

Hi guys,
Im thinking about spending some time out in California this summer and was wondering if there are any current BCP members in the area? I’ve found an old post about a few strips in the area but it seems like we might have to cover some distance to get to the good ones.

Also, I’m looking for some hangar space for the Wagon. If anyone has any leads, please let me know. Looking forward to exploring CA and dipping down into Baja too.

Please post some trip reports if you get down into Baja.

I will for sure. I hope the cartels aren’t tailwheel pilots.

Just got back from 8 days of bouncing around Baja. No cartel worries once you get past the border towns - and it's the 206's they want anyway

I’m in El Cajon , a couple of us with Pacers on 26” . Not really backcountry just desert dirt

Like you said only a few local dirt strips around . Better to the North around Death Valley

Haven’t been to Baja in a plane so no
knowledge there

Hanger space is tight as usual but I may have a lead on one

I used to be down at Gillespie (KSEE) and have a few friends that own places down in Baja. They are all members of the Baja Bush Pilots, you may want to reach out to them for information and tips.... www.bajabushpilots.com

Have fun! Chris

Im fine poking around some desert dirt. Never been up to chicken strip and surrounding Sierra spots. Probably worth a trip up to Truckee too. Kevin and those guys have a lot of good ones plotted out.

It’s looking like I’ll probably arrive in May. Would really appreciate any leads on home for the wagon. Thanks!

I was looking for hangar space in the area last fall and not only didn't find any, but a couple places said they didn't even have space for me on the ramp. Ramona is where I ended up.

When I lived in San Diego I kept my plane at Ramona. I looked at Gillespie and Brown Field too.
