Backcountry in NH

I started flying in Oregon so many years ago (in La Grande - near Red's Horse Ranch/Minam Lodge for those in the know), but hadn't flown for many years since. Now I am living in New Hampshire, and I decided to get back into it. I am building a Zenith 601XL that I may complete next year. While not the best plane for "bush" flying, it should have excellent short field capabilities that I would eventually like to [learn to] exploit. I chose it because I am a low time pilot and I want a fun, yet capable, plane to build my hours and experience in.

Anyone here in New England have any suggestions for backcountry strips that I should look into and start dreaming about. Right now I am just renting a 172, so I may not be able to explore too much. But, I am interested in any sort of backcountry destination where I might be able to hike and camp.

Any suggestions, even if I can only dream for now, would be much appreciated.
