Barnstorming on Thanksgiving

Ok so I wasn't really Barnstorming but I kinda felt like I was living back in the good ole days while I was giving rides to my inlaws on Thanksgiving day. Rather than have them wait their turn out at the airport I just used the hayfield behind their house. I think I had the most fun :D

Note: Not sure what I screwed up in the code but no need to click on the links...they go to the site the videos are on.

First landing in the field. My wife just ran to get the camera...thats why she is breathing heavy.

The field was just about perfect. And the farmer couldn't care less.

Something about landing where no man has landed before. Thats the reason for this group, keep it up...... and share.

Now thats my kinda flying. You come back to the airport with crops stuck in your tailwheel. If you go back to the beginning of flight all of the runways looked like yours. It's where a taildragger is supposed to be. You brought it home nicely. Love your polished prop.

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.

Really cool, Whee!! Thanks for sharing the video and pics. Nice looking Luscombe!! Not sure if you know Lee at Hubler, but he's got a really nice Luscombe, too. He sure would like to see your plane, I bet.

Thanks guys. It really was a lot of fun. I was surprised how much my takeoff roll increased. I knew it would be more but it almost doubled.

58, does Lee have a 170 with 175 wings? If so I met him at Caldwell once..nice guy.

Thanks for fixing my post Z.

I'm not sure if he had a 170 or not. I've only known him for about a year and a half now. I believe he just has the Luscombe now. But yes, he's a really nice older guy that loves to talk about older planes. There's not too many guy's named Lee, so I bet it was him.

That's great, Whee! You just made my day.

Giving rides in a beautiful classic airplane from a farmers field. What could be better?

One time I had to land in a field to pick a friends GF up. He told me they just used the hay field. I was all set up for the landing when I noticed a Wheel lined stretching clear across the field in front of me. I picked another field. When I landed in Boise, ID. at a big fancy FBO I was scattering grain out behind me. It was on my brakes, axles and wheel strut. I thought of this when I saw the wheel line in your videos. Bob
