I like it so far! I'm guessing that you'll be able to right click and plan routes like some of the "other" websites? I like how you can move the map around and it automatically adjust to the next sectional/area.

BCP custom electronic navigation solution

It's a joke about taking a 46" TV with you in the cockpit. Guess I need to work on my comic cues. :P

I appreciate the sentiment though, Kevbert. I like your attitude. How are your SQL skills? I'm dreading the migration from Coppermine to our new solution.

So we had these friends over the other night with a 5 yo daughter. She was playing with my iPad and I told her that when I really need to get down to business, I pull the Samsung Tv off the wall and carry it with me. Got me thinking about the comic potential when I see these tablets in the cockpit... :D

I have paper version 1.0

I zoom in and out with my arms, depending on which bifocals I'm wearing.

Re: BCP custom electronic navigation solution

I got the joke about the 46" display. I think the idea of something like vfrmap.com in the cockpit is viable though (on a smaller display of course ), particularly as a moving map display that can be updated (when online) to the latest charts for free. I'm annoyed that runwayfinder.com has rolled over for the patent abuser, and I'd like that functionality on a more honorable site. Oh yeah, I'm irritated with flightguide too, and I'd like some software that would pull current data from the FAA site and then print out my own airport guide. And finally, I'd like the fuel prices from airnav.com or 100ll.com integrated onto the map. So, if you were to ever think of putting any of that into BCP 2.0 (2.000001?) or an Android app, etc., I'd be willing to help.

Re: BCP custom electronic navigation solution

Zane,
I like the idea of going to a big screen. If the 46 inch is too big for the cockpit then here is the paramount solution. The grand daddy of the heads up display:

Re: BCP custom electronic navigation solution

Will the sandbag mount on top of the glareshield that I use for 396 be stable enough. Can I link it to my Loran Alpha? :D

I can see Rob rushing arround to see how to fit it in his plane.

Re: BCP custom electronic navigation solution

I like very much, but my first question is;will Canadian maps available? If so, I'm off buying a tablet ! Would you mount the tablet in the plane or use it loosely?

Re: BCP custom electronic navigation solution

Heh heh,, Tim you'd need a sandbag the size of a bed pillow. If I had a beater LCD I'd carry it around and wedge it into the cockpit for the comedy.

Haha, I was trying to figure out how to work that in. Too late, I already filed my patent for in-cockpit moving map navigation using 120VAC television.

Joke :?: :!: How bout you project this out the windshield onto the back of the propeller, adjust the rpm to say 2300 and have the devise project at the right hz and see this, let's say on the upper right hand corner of the prop. Never have to look down again.
