Beale AFB Airshow 30Apr/1May 2011

Not backcountry related in the slightest but should be a good event - they have a pretty good lineup of performers and static displays to include the Thunderbirds (the second best performance team after the Blue Angels  ). Hope to see some of you on the ramp.

Which airport is the one to go to? I see that MYV appears to have fuel but no FBOs or info and neither mention rental cars. Where are there rental cars close by?

I'll look into it, I haven't been over to MYV in a while but that is certainly the closest field. The next closest would be Lincoln. I'll have an answer for you shortly.

The correct answer to that question any time there is a cool picture in which the subject can't be identified is, "Of course that's me!" :D

Car rental is cheaper if a few share the cost. Not sure of my schedule yet.

No worries, I just checked with a friend who flies out of Marysville regularly. The FBO there is Honeycutt Aviation (530.743.8155). Give them a call and they can arrange a car for you through Hertz and have it waiting at the field for you. Hours are 8-5 on the weekends.

Yeh, about 15 years ago I did a pre bid walk through for some fire sprinkler up grades in that big square building east of the runway. We did it in groups of six with a the tour guide in front packin a 9 and a guy in the back with an M-16. We had to be pre cleared for it. Had some neat looking hardware inside.
