This plane was a scratch built Bearhawk LSA. It was not built from a kit.

The NTSB report will be interesting.

Did not know them, but really like the plane, and Kalispell, very interested in crash cause.

I was thinking it was a weld failure but it sounds like the right wing steel attach fittings and bolts stayed attach to the airframe.

Did I read that right?

That's how I read it.

That's what I got out of it too, Higgy and Whee. The one thing I've been trying to make sense of, is the wheel dent in the leading edge.... that just isn't adding up for me. Joe wasn't the type to do aerobatics or anything like that, and from what I heard, it was his passenger's first small plane ride, so knowing him, scaring her was the furthest thing from his mind.
I was hoping this prelim report would satisfy some questions I had, but it seems to just have created more for me.

That was a very interesting tidbit for sure. Is it at all possible that a covered gear leg would cause the gear to swing up into the strut if the shock or suspension became disconnected?
