Bearhawk Patrol Build-PICS ADDED

I have an Avipro Rib and Spar kit Ribs are
completed, etched, alodined and epoxy-primed, cut to length with rib stiffener
angles installed. All rib-to-spar attatch angles are made, pre-drilled on the
rib side and etched, alodined, primed, etc. I also have the cap strip material
in the crate from Wick's for the front and rear spars, plus the "drop" material
from the rear spar .063 material. I did cut 2 of the "long" cap strips for the
front spar and began to smooth the ends, but thats all (no primer). The rest are
untouched. I have also made the wing attach parts out of the aluminum plate and they are
finished except for priming. The aileron pockets are also prepped and primed,
ready for assembly.

Too much on the plate and need to keep up with the flying part of things. Trying to keep the business out of the toilet so I can retire from the Gov't job... :D

Re: Bearhawk Patrol Rib and Spar kit

I won't be able to access my computer from work but I'll try and maybe get something posted from my FB page. I think I have some pics from my build on there if I can transfer them over with my limited "fancy thinking box" skills.  Z knows how good I am with that stuff.... #-o

Last one for tonight, this will be the finished product when I'm done, but with more HP, cs prop and different paint. I took this pic last year at sun n' fun and the plane was twisted into a ball from this years sun n fun storm along with several others. Sucks. This is Bob Barrow's (designer/engineer) personal plane.

Re: Bearhawk Patrol Rib and Spar kit-PICS ADDED

Better numbers all around on just about everything that compares to it, from top speed (142mph) to stall speed, gross weight, all metal wings, 120 mph at 50% power (with a 9 hour range), etc. I also grew up on big-block Chevy engines and heavy-metal/hard rock, so I'm all about the high-performance engine in a small plane (Arrr-arr-arrr). I know, 801 guy in wyoming's plane should be more up my alley..but hey... Love the cubs and the similar planes, but especially after seeing the room inside the patrol in Bob Barrow's plane I was sold. Just a preference for me, everyone will have their own opinion though, no doubt. I also haven't read a single negative flight review of the plane either. I should qualify the statement though that I've never flown a Super cub, and I'm a low-time instrument rated pilot, but have flown in the rear seat of Greg Swingle's S-7s and was very impressed with that plane and the manner in which he flies it. If I needed a light Sport plane (due to a medical issue or the like) it would be at the top of the list. That plane can fly ! The bride and I like a little more room and gross weight is all. Again, preference.

Re: Bearhawk Patrol Rib and Spar kit-PICS ADDED

Fair enought, Bearhawk was on our short list, well very short, Dreamaircraft Tundra or Bearhawk...I opted for the Tundra but Bearhawk had very interesting numbers that's for sure! Would be great fo fly formation when you have her done!

Cheers, BCT

Absolutely ! I have a growing bucket list of guys I intend to fly with when I'm finished on my bee-line to AK. Gonna be a long month or three away from home traveling the country, I'm hoping to coincide with my retirement from civil service in 3 or 4 years. :D [-o< .....We'll see what the Obamaconomy does for my business by then.
