Beautiful WWII images (circa 1942)

Found these on the net.

Most of them are staged for media purposes, but one must marvel at the beauty of Americans at work. =D>

Very cool! So often the photos that you see are all black and white. Seeing them in color makes them more "real" to me, if you know what I mean. Thanks for sharing.

I just started readying "Half a Wing, Three Engines, and a Prayer", so this was very timely.

Great photos!

Media staged yes it happened on occasion but most plant workers refused to let it impact production (my parents me at the Tulsa Douglas plant assembling SBD-5's, B-24’s and later mom went on to be the senior production planner for the A-26 after dad shipped out to the south Pacific… lots of stories about "war rallies" at the plant) but also the workers are real...look at their hands.

Great find. It made me wounder, because I have heard so many times, a big part of how we won WWII was our ability to manufacture in huge quantities. With so much of our heavy industry gone it makes a guy think if the out come would be the same. :(

Good day
