Bell lake Dec 15th 2007

Bell lake has 10" good ice. A little wetness close to shore in the usual places. By the weekend there should be a foot. DC drilled holes and ran his snowmobile around the lake. We are going ahead with the Dec. 15 date and I would recommend skis only. Snow cover was only 4" but with a chance of slush I would remove wheels. I will seek an update for Pelican Lake before the weekend.

Coordinates are N48 5'.09" [From Orr fly 53 degrees for 4.4 miles]
W92 45'.13"

In the morning there will be airplanes gathering for coffee at the cafe on Pelican Lake right in Orr, then flying over to Bell Lk. before noon for food. Bring something to donate like Brats or buns or chips. Great people and lots of airplanes.

Sounds like fun, is there any type of fuel available for someone on straight skiis? I need a faster plane, I think it would be about 3 hours each way with no wind. I am hoping for a day like today!

There is fuel in Bemidji, Grand Rapids, Thief river Falls airports, and Ely Lake Aviaiton at Eveleth. For the first three you land between the taxi way and runway. Fuel truck can come out. Best bet though is to fuel up at Pelican Lake in Orr, MN. There is a gas station 100 yards from the public access where we land for coffee before heading to the offical flyin on Bell lk. Bring a few jugs and then top off at Orr using Mogas. Hope to see you

Orr bay on pelican has 10" ice. Close to shore by the public access is a little rutted from snowmobile tracks refreezing in the snow. Land a little long out in the bay and taxi in. Coffee at the cafe in the AM just around the corner.

Bell lake looking good. ***SKIS*** only unless you know the conditions for certain. Runway will be marked. SW winds forecast 5-15mph. A little cool and maybe a slight flurry. Farther south and west looks to be sunny.

Scout,

Did you mean "Wheels only" or "Skis only"?? Confused, as usual.
