Best Looking GA Airplane

It seems like the Lockheed Constellation always wins the best-looking-of-all-time contest, but If you hand choose the best looking GA aircraft of all time which would it be? Do you like an open cockpit Waco, a sleek new Mooney, a polished 140, or something else completely?

Me? I'm drawn to classics. Although I wasn't alive then, to me they evoke thoughts a period when flying all about fun. More stick n' rudder and less rules n' regulations. People didn't ask their passengers to sign liability wavers, fuel was cheap, and you didn't get chewed out if you flew NORDO. I love the looks of the 195, the Navion, and nearly all Stinsons, but if I had to narrow it down to just one I'd pick the Twin Bonanza. I've only seen one, but it made a big impression. I was a student at the time and it looked so different from anything else I'd seen. The Connie-like nose gear way up in front, the retro landing light, the large engine nacelles, and just an overall look of substance all made what I was flying look like a worn-out sardine can. I'd probably never own one even if I could afford it, but it sure is nice to look at.

Unless I'm mistaken isn't that a U-8?

Yeah bewdy Zane :D , they're about as hansome as a hat full of arseholes.

A Beech Duke would have to be up there with a Lear for good looks.

The older I get the better I used to be

I have my own opinions but they are best kept to myself. Don't want to upset Karma. For me the answer is the one(s) that are parked in the hangar.

Like going to the Prom and having your date ask you "Who do you think is the prettiest girl at the dance"? Only one right answer.

Does the Hughes H1 fit the definition of General Aviation?

Now this is a really good thread. The best one in a long time. Or am just comparing it to one of the recent ones.

I like the single engine cessna strait tails. The 150, 172, 182 and I guess the 310 with the strait tail is nice. Oops, I almost forgot the skywagons.

Oh did I mention that I fly a 182B

I suppose it could be. The caption on the picture said it was a D50E painted in the military scheme. I don't know how to tell difference.

I was going to say the same thing before I went with the lovely C3. I think this one though is the most elegant Howard I've ever seen:

If I'm not mistaken it would have to be the Noorduyn Norseman

In no particular order

Globe Swift (I'm partial to the highly modified / polished ones)
Cessna 195
B model Cessna 170
Stinson V-77 Gullwing
Howard DGA
Early Cessna 180 (hey, had to throw that in, as I own one, and why
would a guy buy/own something he didn't like!!!???) :D

You know Zane I looked at that little character and said to myself "Hey, I got a picture of one of those!". I started to look through my files from two weeks ago when I was at the Grime's Fly In and then I saw what it said on the hangar in your picture!

While I LOVE my 170B with it's big round feathers.....I would have to say the Staggerwing is the most beautiful around.

Including military trainers? Then my vote would include the Stearman!

Of course, I'm biased
