Best Portable Intercom for 2 place aircraft?
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a portable intercom. What are you guys using and what's working well and what is considered good?
Thanx,
RR

So far, the PS Engineering Aerocom III is looking pretty good. Lynx systems look nice, but the price is not-so-nice.

I've got a Sigtronics Transcom II I just replaced with a built-in intercom. You could talk me out of it pretty cheaply!
Send my a PM if you're interested... (It worked great, by the way. Just too many wires on the floor.)

Thanx for the reports of what you guys are using. Well, I've made my decision today. I just bought from Aircraft Spruce one PS Engineering Aerocom III AND one DRE205e.

I have a feeling I'll be using the DRE as the primary unit, and the Aerocom III as the backup.

I'd like to reopen this thread.
RR, can you provide an update on which intercom you like best.
The DRE is more that what I want but there seems to be a consensus that the Aerocom III may have the best audio quality of any unit out there. The auto squelch must be nice.
I'm also interested in the Sigtronics SPO 42N which is for "noisy cockpits" and the Avcomm AC-2EX.
I want an expandable 2 place which all of these are.
Wondering if PTT inputs are better than the in-line plug type, too.
The PS Engineering Aerocomm III is quite a bit more expensive than either of these.

Ask me in about a month. That's when I'll be home, flying again and able to test each unit.

I run a Pilot USA one. Cheap and works awesome for a two place intercom. My ICOM A-6 runs through it as well. The best part I like is while running the ICOM through it you don't even have to have it on to get sidetone.
