Betty....
....had her Pitts on display at the Indiana State Fair back in the 60s. I could not believe how small it was and couldn't imagine that anyone would dare fly around in such a little toy. Never did I imagine that 20 some years later I would own an S1-C just like hers and enjoy over 400 hours of aerobatic flight in it.
We need more folks like Betty. Female and male. What a great life.

Living the Dream

I had no idea she was even still around. Just never occurred to me. Li'l Stinker was C-85 powered, at least in the beginning. I would be very interested in a flight report of that airplane. I wonder if it would sneak under the 51.8 mph stall speed limit. She was indeed a dainty thing. The common photo of her with her head barely sticking out above the cockpit coaming reveals that as well as a "girl next door" comeliness. I wish she had done the speaking tour bit. It would have been nice to meet her.

Love this quote: “Receiving my first Medicare card a few months ago was not much of a thrill,” Ms. Skelton wrote. “I wanted to burn it immediately and go out and buy a Pitts!”
Ain't personal responsibility wonderful?
