A special notice to AOPA members in the northern California area
==> ATTENTION PILOTS <==
FAA TO ESTABLISH TFR OVER BEALE AIR FORCE BASE ON FRIDAY AOPA is sending this message to advise pilots in and near Marysville, California, that the FAA has issued a security-related notam restricting flight on Friday, November 3, for an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operation.
"This TFR underscores the need for the FAA to develop regulations and standards that allow UAS to operate in the national airspace system without flight restrictions," said Andy Cebula, AOPA executive vice president of government affairs.
There will be a 10-nautical-mile-radius temporary flight restriction (TFR) centered on the MYV VOR's 055-degree radial at 6.7 miles, extending up to Flight Level 180. It will be in effect from 3 p.m. local until 5 p.m.
local on Friday. Aircraft operating within the TFR must have a discrete transponder code assigned by air traffic control and must maintain radio contact with ATC. See AOPA Online for the full text of the notam along with a graphical depiction ( http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html#6/5179 ).
The affected landing facilities are Yuba County (MYV) and Sutter County (O52).
Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages pilots to obtain a briefing and CHECK NOTAMS before every flight.
TFR violators will be intercepted and forced to land.
