Big Bar, ID

I try to follow the recent activity on Shortfield.com, and noticed this one today:

Looks like a gem.

Chrisg- Any idea why the position is not initializing right?

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Yeah...this is one I really wanna get to. Gotta keep restraining myself cuz although my plane could do it I'm not sure I could.

Gotta keep workin of spot landings...can't quite nail 'em everytime.

Spot landings are easy! Getting the plane to take off again is hard! 8)

Hey Whee, I'm not sure if you need permision to go into Hubler, but that would be a good local strip for you to practice at for tight strips (well, seems tight for a newbee like me  ). Even though it's paved and at about 2600', I kind of feel like I'm landing at some backcountry strip :D .

On another note, did you find a hanger for the winter yet?

I now what you mean, I used to practice at Colfax cuz it felt tight to me. I've never been to or seen Hubler though. I'm not really worried about it being tight, I just use alot of runway on landing because of crappy brakes and floating. For me 1100' doesn't leave much room to float when it takes a while for the brakes to stop me.

Is there much slope at Big Bar? That would definitely help.

No hangar...planes changed and so I won't be getting one, but thanks for the help.

Whee,
Big Bar is relatively flat with little or no slope, however there is a good windsock there, put up in the last two years by Jerry T. and a great group of Ida Aviation Assoc volunteers....I think there were some 17-planes in there this spring on a work party...

If you decide to go into Big Bar an up river landing is standard in a no wind situation, but just remember you are in Hell's Canyon and the winds can be unpredictable....i.e. the earlier in the day the better and get your spot landing down before you try Big Bar....Enjoy it, it's a beautiful spot....

Anybody know if a 182 (lightly loaded) can get into and out of Big Bar? it appears I can if the strip is not too bad.

Been in there with a heavily loaded 180.
Light 182 should be a no sweat affair.
As usual, be nice to the nose.

It is better to be late in this world, than early in the next.

Yeah, it wasn't positioning correctly because I broke it last time I changed the code (a couple weeks ago). I just made the fix and uploaded a new version. If it still isn't working for you, try clearing your browser cache.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
