Recently it seems the blm has taken to posting various places around the John Day River as no landing areas. Does anybody know anything about this or what might happen to someone caught violating this signage? Me and many of my friends fly over there to fish and camp on a regular basis and want to know what we are up against if we are caught violating.
I've heard that the inforcement is based on the federal senic rivers act and that they are posting and enforcing it because of noise complaints-aircraft noise echoing down the river canyon walls. I don't know how much truth there is to this, but I do know that the signs are up!?
