BLM to close Willamette Valley strips
Discuss the legality of flying the backcountry, FARs, advocacy, and aviation relevant legislation. Registered users only.
We had the state Oregon Pilots Association board meeting in LaGrande on Saturday, in conjunction with the RAF and Idaho Aviation Association. Right now, the BLM is reviewing all their land in the Willamette Valley and they are closing all airstrips on BLM land if nobody speaks up. We’ll be asking for information on strips on valley BLM land so that we can get these included in the Resource Management Plan. We want them to stay open! We're also planning to pursue legislation in Oregon to relieve private airstrip owners from liability if the public lands on their strips.
If anyone know of BLM strips in the Willamette Valley of Western Oregon we need a list here. We will need to write and tell the BLM NO!! closers.
G'Day...Rob

I don't know of any here in the valley. I would like to know what the boundaries of the Willamette Valley are.

Sounds like a government plan. We gonna close things where they don't exist, think of the budget savings that brings about.
