I'm looking at an Avid Mk 4 located in AB near the Saskatchewan border. Would you just fly it home to Reno and register it at a FSDO near the border where presumably they've done it before? How much hassle is it? It's registered as a Canadian Homebuilt, not as an Ultralight.

Never mind. I called my I/A.
1) Get a de registration from Canada
2) Stop for customs like usual. Bill of sale, canadian airworthiness stuff etc.
3)Fly it home
4)Get a condition inspection and proceed to step B

B) New N- number
1) Certificate of Airworthiness
2) US title
3) Have fun.

Probably doesn't apply to experimentals/homebuilts, but I've heard that importing a certificated airplane from Canada nt the US can be a real mightmare.
