Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Anyone know the name of the brown sealant that is commonly use in Nylo-Seal fittings for pitot static systems? Is it Permatex Form A? Thanks-

I have NEVER seen any sealant on them. Nylo-seal isn't supposed to have any. Check your 43.13 for guidance.

Not in the compression fitting in the Nylo-seal, but the thread into the the instrument. Some use teflon tape, but I have seen more than one installation with dried brown sealant. I was wondering if it was Aviation Permatex Form A.

Suspicion only here - I too have never seen pitot fittings with sealing.- Suspect someone doing a quick fix with stripped threads - But then what do I know.
Just because I have never seen it does not mean it should not exist:
Back to the book 43... or instrument specific instructions.
Lost in old age this am

It is better to be late in this world, than early in the next.
I think it's actually pine tar. Good for baseball bats as well as pitot/static tubing.

Again... Im talking about the male fitting that goes into the back of an instrument, NOT the compression side. If its a brass Poly-flo fitting like #268 I'd use teflon, but this isnt the best for plastic. Good luck with a static leak check if you dont use any thread sealant. My avionics shop uses a liquid sealant. I will find out on Monday...

Popped my head in the avionics shop today... (for those that care) For black polyethylene or white nylon, they use Permatex Aviation Form A. For brass or alum, it's teflon.
