Building SES time in Juneau

Greetings-

I am looking for someone that either owns a seaplane or has leads to someone that owns one in the Juneau area in Alaska.
I was hoping to get checked out (at my expense, of course) on this aircraft and perhaps split some time and share expenses such as fuel so I can build up my SES time.

I am a well experienced pilot, yet I only have 7 hours of float time.

Please send me a PM if you have any leads.

Thanks !

Re: Building SES time in Juneau

I ferried a 182 up there a few years back. The gentleman I took it up for was very well connected in aviation up there.
I asked him the same question, his reply ..."get your Seaplane CFI and teach for 500 hours".

Later when I did a phone interview with one of the big operators up there I asked the same question.
Their response..."get your seaplane CFI and teach till you get 500 hours seaplane, then you can fly ours".

I had about 1500 total and 500 or so dual given at that time.
Don't know it that helps, but it's what I was told.

Thanks for the tip! I have been keeping an eye on your operation. Quite impressive! My seasonal job up here in JNU is great fun and is keeping me busy until my airline recalls me this winter, however, the paychecks are somewhat small. I'll do my best to save up and perhaps this autumn I can rent some block time in one of your nice aircraft.

Ironically, I only came across your job posting for SES instructors after I accepted this gig up here. Terrible timing :(
I'd bug you for a job instructing when I finish this gig up here, however, I am assuming your business is somewhat seasonal as well.

Perhaps you'll hear from me this fall!

Re: Building SES time in Juneau

We go year round as we move the planes to Florida for the winter season, I take the fall off and do my 3-4 months of hunting and will have someone do the fall flying in FL and may have a winter pilot -CFI to hire for sightseeing and SES training. I have x-country time building available on the trip down to FL at 1/2 price rates, 12-14 hours. The other posts are very correct that you will learn as you start teaching SES. Maybee i can get a seaplane job?? after 6000 SES hrs dual given. I have 50 -100 hour blocks available for time building also, i know it costs some $$ but try ownership of 5 seaplanes. Buy a T-craft or Champ for 25-35K and you can get done what you want also, buy it, fly it and sell it!

Re: Building SES time in Juneau

I really respect you all for having aircraft available for rent. I did not mean to gripe about rates and such; I know it is the insurance that makes it damn near impossible to get things rolling for both parties.

If you intend to move an aircraft in the month in October, I am all over it!

Re: Building SES time in Juneau

Please let us (*ME*) know when we can "bid" on the open slots at the end of October at this forum, or the other forum you sponsor (that I frequent as well).
The time frame works out well for me, and by that time, I will have enough funds to make the trip.

Thanks again,
