Orin is My Hero, Told me more about flying than just about anyone. All you have to do is be close to him for awhile and it seems to rub off on you.

I met Dirk here in Phoenix in January of 07. He has two Beavers that his wife keeps maintained while he flys them. Great people to talk to.

Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

That kind of trust makes for a good marriage.

Lynn Sanderson (Dirtstrip) passed away from natural causes in May 2013. He was a great contributor and will be missed dearly.

Re: bush pilots

He's a lucky man to have a wife that maintains 2 beavers.

Re: bush pilots

Another old time Alaskan bush pilot, if he is still alive, is Al Lee of Lee's Air Service about 25 miles West of Glenallen, Alaska. Used to fly a stripped down pacer on floats with only the minimum instruments and no radio equip whatsoever. Many empty holes in the panel.....Nothing not absolutely necessary, including a starter.....always hand propped from the float.
