Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Re: Bushwhacker

Wow...

A throttle back to idle on the downwind in case the engine quits, no slower than 1.3 vso approach, three point landing so he didn't have to go faster to wheel it.... #-o (sarcasm button)

Nice job whoever it was!!! =D>

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Re: Bushwhacker

That plane has some crazy mods. It has these cuffs on the leading edges of the wings that you can move, and I would love for someone to explain to me what they do/how they work. I don't know how to explain them other than they loosely pivot up and down and if memory serves me correctly, they run the entire span of the wing. It's a real beauty in person.

Re: Bushwhacker

I ran across a guy last year that was sarcastically telling me about a guy he met that thought he had an ultimate bush plane, he said he called it a Bushwhacker,,,I asked what color it was, he said it was gray and made out of bit and pieces of a Maule, I asked him if he had ever seen long props and big rocks, he had not, and did not have a clue, #-o I suggested that he buy or barrow the DVD and watch it.

Show me a stock Maule that'll do that & I'll buy it. Bushwhacker is to a stock Maule what Kazoom is to a stock supercub.

Hotrod,

You would be suprised to see how close to a stock Maule (Maule parts in the right combination) Bushwacker really is. Take the link below to see the specs. I have flown with Greg, light, big prop, and a very skilled pilot. O Yea it is Cuzoom.

Actually I was NOT surprised to see how different Bushwhacker is from a stock Maule- read the post entitled "about Bushwhacker", I wouldn't call the airplane described as being "close to a stock Maule". Modified for extremely light weight & extreme low end performance (including a flat-pitched 90" fixed prop). I'm not capping on maules at all, just noting that although Bushwhacker is an awesome airplane, it's anything but stock.

Re: Bushwhacker

Howdy Folks, That was a day I took Chris Gage of shortfield.com flying, local area South of Kelso. I think he posted a few others of that day also on his site. It was blowing 10-15 depending on where we were at, raining and kind of gusty so it was a handful on occasion. Chris was filming for fun and braving the cold and not so nice conditions just for a few minutes of video. Fun....

My airplane has a lot that makes it different from its 180hp Maule Brother but one thing I noticed that was posted that it does not have is a cuff or slat. The wing in fact is the stock 33'8" Maule long wing minus tip tanks and transfer pumps with the 126" long flaps.

Merry Christmas everyone,

Greg

Greg, I don't know how much money (if any) you've made with your Big Rocks videos, but you've sure provided the rest of us with a lot of entertainment watching you wring that thing out. Thanks!

Re: Bushwhacker

That thing flies almost as good as a 180...

Would be fun plane to fly. You need to bring that thing south for some fun.
