buying an engine that has sat for a while
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
3 part question. I think I know the answer to the first part!
What do you engine experts think of buying an airplane that is in annual, current etc. but has an engine with 50 SMOH but was done in 2005?
And, as a buyer, short of tearing into the engine during the pre-buy what can you do about it?
Do some makes/models "sit around" better than others?
