C180 starring in The North Face short film

I have always loved The North Face's short films and commercials about exploration, so this morning when I saw one about the solstice I had to watch it.

It's a great short film produced by Sherpa Cinemas, and at about 3:05 a skywagon makes a grand entrance. It's the same one that was in a short clip a couple weeks ago flying/skiing down a river with show smoke. Thought you all might enjoy.

I recommend watching it all if you have time, but skip to about 3:00 to just see the wagon.

It's Rory Bushfield's, a pro skier. Same guy here: https://vimeo.com/167490658

Watching videos like the North Face short makes me wonder why they don't show the guy sitting at his desk, coding or pay bills, looking out the window. Or these kids using their dad's credit card. They should work that in.

If it makes you all feel better, one of the people in that short film works in my building as a Boulder County public defender and drives a beat up old subaru...

Cool, looks like the same 180 and spot they were flying into Vancouver Island to surf on another video? Been a minute since I saw that one, but they had a really cool surf shack setup there if remembering right. Anywhere you can land on the beach and have a surf is pretty epic!

Well Played Z!

Skalywag, any idea where on Vancouver island they are landing and surfing? I've been "dreaming" about putting some short boards and my inflatable SUP in the Maule and going on a surf trip.

Its a shame I legally can't land here on the beach in Oregon, but I've always thought BC would be the ticket.

That location is Nootka Island just north of Tofino right where Crawfish Lake drains into the ocean at Calvin Falls. Tide and fog dependent for landing. There are some you tube videos. That would be the same plane that was buzzing the houses in a very noise sensitive area in Squamish at about 100' above the roofs. Now the airport has to try hard to explain why they should not be shut down.

Dunno what the Canadians regs say about it, but that was a pretty low pass over the swimmers in the first video. I'm surprised they didn't fuzz out the tail number to avoid repercussions.

Re: C180 starring in The North Face short film

That's the one Evan, thanks. I was looking for it trying to answer Highroads question, sounds like 175 Magnum knew the spot.

I've only surfed around Vancouver Island for a week or so in the summer, the water is damn cold, at least for this Texan. The only time ever truly needed a hoodie, was like ice cream headache every duckdive [emoji12]

Re: C180 starring in The North Face short film

Thanks guys for the beta, looks like a fun trip.

Skaly, the trick to the North Pacific Coast is to surf it in the winter. The water is actually warmer in the winter, due to the south winds that blow the "warm" water up from Mex. In the summer, the strong north winds blow the cold water down from AK.

That being said, a good wetsuit with built in hood is a must!
