CA to Caveman Pilgrimage...Who's In?

I'm planning on leaving Central CA on Friday the 4th in the morning (tentative). Anybody else heading East to Caveman want to join up?

There's strength in numbers and it could be fun to make a few stops along the way...

Hey Jeremy, Stacey and I are going. We plan on leaving thursday morning if we can though. I think you cruise just a little faster than us anyways :D . I'll let you know if we end up leaving on friday though due to weather or whatever else.

Unfortunately, I've got class on Thurs. But there's a chance I might depart Thurs night just to get on my way out of town.

Maybe we can link up enroute then...I have no problem pulling the power back for company

Re: CA to Caveman Pilgrimage...Who's In?

Don't know who else from So Cal is going but I'm leaving between 6 and 7 AM on Thurs. first stop for gas is Valle just south of Grand Canyon... Second stop is Cal Black only cause I want gas when I land to be able to fly around on Friday... otherwise I could make it with one gas stop...I'll monitor 122.9 on the way so if anyone occasionally calls Iceman I'll answer if I hear you... Hopefully this coastal crap that we're experiencing now will disipate and give me good departure weather...

Sounds awesome, I could probably leave anytime after tuesday, will watch the weather. Will be leaving from KSAC. Been trying to get to Provo area for some work on my plane so I could do that on the way there or home possibly.

Hey Jeremy I don't know what you're doing for fuel stops but I'm planning on airports that will keep my bushwheels looking new! I'm going to be stopping at Hawthorne, NV (HTH) and Beaver, UT (U52). Both stops have fuel according to Airnav, and most importantly, dirt runways. :D

I hadn't found HTH yet, but found Beaver and can't pass up the chance to land on that strip for sure. Thanks for the tip!

Right now it looks like we won't get out until late Thurs afternoon. Although I'd like to make it at least as far as Ibex/Tule Hardpan, with the winds the way they have been and running out of daylight, I'll probably stage at Columbia (O22) for the night and an early flight out on Friday morning.
