Cactus proofing tires

While flying last weekend, I saw a lot of cactus on some of the strips that we went into. I have heard that some tires may have kevlar, which may resist cactus. I suppose if any do, Wup's would.

Also wondered if you could slime them, but I guess not being FAA approved, that would be out of the question.

Anyone have any thoughts on this, and what to do to resist cactus punctures, aside from not flying these strips.

Thanks Gary[/url]

Slime is awesome stuff. Has it ever actually been prohibited by the FAA?

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Used to have a similar issue mountain biking in the desert. There were heavy rubber strips you could buy to line the inside of your tire between the tire and the tube.

Hey Zane

I wouldn't think that it's an issue of whether it has been prohibbited, but rather , whether it has been approved. But I like the way you're thinkin :)

Gary--

We used the Slime for a while but it ends up dryn' out in the bottom of your tire and creates an imbalance in your tire, since that discovery I got a tip from one of our costumers and have researched and are now Very happily using a product called "No Tubes" and have added it to our list of "approved" sealers.

How much would you put in an 8.50 tire, and any "tricks" to getting the stuff in there.

Thanks G

The Stuff is $22.00 and $5.00 for the applicator. It is pretty self explanatory for the install and EZ....

Flying is magic... till you hit the trees.

Look forward to seeing you again. These BCP'ers are everywhere. Just hard to identify with out shirts. Maybe someday

I use the notubes from stans in my mountain bike and have been for several years and wouldn't want to be without. It does have to be added every once in a while due to evaporation but it's great. 2 oz. per MTB wheel. How much does Wup recommend for a bushwheel?
