I'd love to meet up with you guys......My new-to-me 180 is in the Calaveras Airplane hangar, next to Splashpilot's. Unfortunately tomorrow is my son's 7th B-Day and I don't think that heading to the airport is gonna be on his list of things to do......... Say hi to my airplane for me.

Which hangar number? We'll bang on the door and say "hey" to your airplane for you.

It's in the Calaveras Airplane Co. hangar, about midfield. Wouldn't be surprised if the owners, Andrew and Steve, have the hangar open tomorrow. They are really nice guys. Have fun tomorrow!

Here's a neat video of their restoration of a rare DeHavilland Dragon Rapide

Looks like they will have some decent wx there today. Back when I was based there it was hit or miss on having decent weather for the Airport Day. They have it so early because all the other airshows use up about every weekend until fall.

Great Airport and people. I wrenched there from the start until I moved & learned to fly there also. You might even see my old Luscombe N72056. It still resides there.

Kathy Zancanella is the Airport Manager and coulndnt be better for the job. She owns a T-craft that I used to work on also.

Have Fun...

Well, I couldn't make it because of an electrical problem but Joey made it.

Kathy is good people. That's a very active, very fun airport. Wish I could be based there.

Awesome turn out today! I didn't count but I bet there were 100 planes there. It was pretty entertaining watching the arrivals and departures...saw a couple of pretty close calls. Also saw a guy take off with his engine missing BADLY... I couldn't believe he kept going down the runway. It was spewing black smoke as he climbed about 100ft a minute and flew away. Gobs of RV's as always but also some other unique stuff. Nice airport...nice area..I'll be back.

That Apache on amphibs was on straight floats to begin with. They used a truck to tow the dolly it was on and ran it down the runway until the Apache was at flying speed. I see it's for sale. I guess there just isn't that much demand for multiengine sea ratings around here.
