Re: Camping Lincoln Maine...

So sad to see Hampton paved. That was such a sweet grass strip. Do they still do training in J3's there?

Re: Camping Lincoln Maine...

They do. They're down to 1 J3 now. The Champ and the other J3 are being sold. There's still a grass strip to the next to the pavement.
They're going to start off students in the 172 soon, instead of the Cubs. They'll keep the Cub around for tailwheel endorsements. Cubs were getting a little beat up from the students starting in them.

Re: Camping Lincoln Maine...

For sure a huge bummer about Hampton. I bumped into a WW2 guy at an event the other week who did his civvy primary training there before the war. Had great memories.... I should stop by, but haven't had the stomach all summer.

Also sad that they are moving away from a TW school. Chasing the $ I guess (can't blame em)

End if an era-

Im gonna head back up to Lincoln in early Nov if anyone wants to plan a small BCP event... Perhaps hit some of the spots we did at the WAD.
