Can I use my 6" Grove wheels with ABWs?
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
It's as simple as the title says, I have the Magnesium 6" Grove wheels, 3 bolt, designed to take a valve stem. Experimental.
Would a set of AK Bushwheels simply bolt on, or do I need to budget for new wheels too?

Not sure on the Grove, but I used my Matco 6" wheels with the ABWs, but I had to buy a spacer from Matco to widen the wheel out 1". I would think the groves would work fine with them if they are a 6" wheel.

Yes you can. You have the same wheels I do. Get your checkbook out!

Will they work with ABW as well as Airstreaks (which I assume you have)?
I have heard that you want 6 bolt wheels with heavier aircraft, mine is 2,700lbs MTOW, 2,500lbs MLW.

I can't help with 3 bolt/6 bolt thing but the tires will fit. Grove wheels are basically copies of Cleveland. I talked to them on the phone a while back and they said the bead is industry standard; any tire designed to go on a 6" aircraft wheel will fit their 6" wheel. I called to ask about the Gar Aero adapters and that is when they gave me the info.

I've got 3 bolt Cleveland's on the 180 with bushwheels (2650 GW) and haven't had any problems. Not sure if that corresponds to Grove's but figured it might.

I have since found a lot of examples of 3 bolt wheels with ABWs doing a lot of hard landings, so I am going to dismiss the 6 bolt rumour as just that. Hearsay.
