Canadian Stinson Owners

First of all, this is my first topic post on here! I've been lurking around this site for a couple years, and I've gotta say the vast amount of knowledge available from all of you is impressive.
After a few years of saving and scrounging I'm finally in a position to start looking seriously at an airplane. Basically I'm torn between a pacer and a stinson (yes I've read just about everything on here about both aircraft, and don't intend for this to be a stinson VS pacer debate :) There are a couple Stinson's in western Canada I've had my eye on. Both have Franklin 165's which I plan to fly for a few years until I can afford an upgrade.
My question to you guys is: Are there any Canadian Stinson owners on here?? Or do any of you know of any? I'm concerned about the availability of franklin experienced AME's in western Canada. Both owners are very experienced with the operation and maintenance of these engines, but are selling due to age and illness.
Its unfortunate, but if I can't find reliable support for the franklin it will sway my decision.

Get a hold of Okanogan Aero Engines, they just did up a Franklin for one of the guys at CYNJ. He was very happy with their work.

Re: Canadian Stinson Owners

I would worry more about the availability of parts more than the people who work on them. A good mechanic shouldn't have much problem with them. These engines are all pretty simple and fairly similar to each other. Same could be said for the Stinson airframe.

Hey welcome here. Where in Western Canada you at?
I don't own either of the above aircraft, but am always looking for more people to fly with.

Re: Canadian Stinson Owners

Thanks for the tip on Okanagan Aero, I'll give them a shout.

A1Skinner, I'm based in Nelson. If you're ever in the area stop in and say hello! Im usually not too far from the airport these days.
