Caution: Volvo on final
Debrief, share, and hopefully learn from the mistakes of others.
As far as car strikes go, in the PNW this one takes the cake. It happened at Harvey Field. DC-4 vs Van.
I was there that day and watched it happen. It occurred after about the third landing attempt. The DC-4 also hit a dead tree on final and damaged one wing. At the end of the runway it spun around in a maneuver that looked like it was intended to keep it from going off the end of the runway (which it did.) While making the sharp turn, fuel sprayed from the damaged wing in a wide arch. It was exciting indeed!

http://goo.gl/maps/6AvrOCould there really be two jets that close together in that location at the time the photo was taken?
That's something I haven't seen before...pretty cool. I reckon it is the same jet captured on two separate photo frames which when stitched together makes it look like two aircraft in close proximity.
Interesting, they are on slightly different tracks and both cast shadows on the ground below at the same angle. Makes me think if it's two photos, they've been taken at almost the same time.
