I am a Patterson native. Who are your relatives that lived here? It is still a relatively small town. I am also a farmer here on west side of the valley. We will fallow about 25% of the farm this summer and rely on groundwater for the rest. We will get by and do what we have to but we do worry about the long term water situation. The demands on the water supply keep growing and there is just no leadership to develop more storage. There will be true hardship for many here this summer.
The family I had were on my Ex Wife's side, but I spent many a holiday there. They were her grandparents. Her Grandmother was named Charlotte Bachleda and at the moment I cant remember her grandfathers name. Her Grandfather passed away and her grandmother moved back to Livermore to be with family and she recently passed away in the last 4 years or so.. Any chance the name rings a bell.. They lived in a tract of homes just past the airport. After exiting the freeway, I remember driving past the airport and turning left on the first main road then shortly thereafter a right turn into the homes.
Sorry to hear about the cutback on your farm. This drought is crazy and I think anyone living in Los Angeles should feel pretty bad about having grass in the front yard.
Best regards,
